The Search in Zora Neale Hurston
Annie Walker and her friend she talks in over email and both love Zora Hurston, and admire her books. They both decide that they will meet up on the search to find more facts about Zora Hurston. Walker and Charlotte both meet up at the airport and start their quest by beginning to questioning the lady in the post office. Following from her and what she knows they start questioning Mrs. Moseley that knew Zora. They learned where she was buried at, and decided to buy a tombstone for Hurston's grave. Then they meet up with Dr. Benton, who was close friends with Zora, just to find more things about her. For example, like her real cause of death and her relationships with her neighbors. Annie Walker comes across the problem of getting people to tell her more information about Zora Hurston. So Annie came up with the idea to pretend to be Hurston's niece. She knew one really knew Hurston's real niece, and because of that, that was the only reason why she could pull off being Hurston's niece. But throughout the story Annie Walker begins to find her own roots. She ends up thinking that she is apart of Hurston's family. This experience made it clear to Walker and also got her to look at Hurston and her novels, but it also had Walker learn more about herself. Like where she came from, and personally opened her eyes to who she is. Just like Janie in Their Eyes Were Watching God.
